DEAR : Confidence – Spoken Word

What is Confidence?

If I asked you if your confident by self-security or confident by validation, what would be your answer?

Its crazy.  I wouldn’t say I have had ‘confidence’ until now.  Although I ‘thought’ I had it for years.  I dipped in and out of insecurity like most of us do at some stage in our lives.   But the times I was pretty convinced I was confident, Looking back.  I was far from it.   I have realised that was really because I had been living by how people around me defined how to be secure in yourself. Not actually…feeling secure in myself.

I’m happy to say I have now discovered the true meaning of confidence by self-security and no longer by validation of others.

A lot of people have their own definition of confidence.  Which is a bit silly because…it kind of already has a definition of its own.  Why do you reckon people try and change something that doesn’t need to be changed.  Don’t try fix something that isn’t broken right?

In line with my DEAR Series, here is the third instalment of my Spoken Words.  I wrote up a little piece talking all about the balance of confidence this society deems us to have and its definition.

I came across your videos on Instagram and just wanted to say I think it’s really refreshing to see someone being so open and honest about mental health in young women and the pressures we face from society today. Please keep doing what your doing it’s very inspiring. I would love to know how /see a video on how you have gotten to this point, for example techniques for depression, anxiety, working on self, therapists, books you have used etc. Thanks!
